10 Jan 2010 ROM – Rule Number 1: Delegation

A man cannot do everything by himself. He needs so many people of different talents to help him to make an event right. I have understood this right from my army days, where I would delegate tasks to different people according to their expertise and strengths!

For example, I delegate my friend, Liyee, as the Music I/C as I know that he is responsible and very alert in timings. He is also good in technical aspects of operating the sound system. I delegated Samuel, Qien and Kevin to become ushers as I know that they have seen both me and my wife’s family members before and hence they know where to guide them to their seats.

I allowed my best friend KC to shadow me as Best Man for I knew he knows what I will do next. I allowed Daryl, my church friend, to run the whole show as I knew he was experienced and is very capable in making things work. I also allowed JJ to shadow my wife, as I knew she knows how to make critical decisions at that moment.

You get me right?

The event has to be made up of people who understands their tasks very clearly. I just need to motivate them and brief them very clearly on what is going to happen that day, and just be a very happy man that day. Oh yeah, the timesheet of events, logistics and task list is very important to everyone involved, so do send to everyone!

Regards,

Daniel
